Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does CommLogix work with any building automation system?

CommLogix is working to add as many BAS Mfgs as possible. We currently are working with the following:

  • BACnet/IP
  • BACnet
  • LonWorks
  • Modbus
  • Metasys
  • oBIX

Almost all dial up ( modem ) BAS that support a terminal mode and/or can can send text or numeric pager messages.

2. Does CommLogix always have hardware we have to install:

  • Facility Schedule Automation = Yes
  • Critical Alarm Automation = No

3. When required, is the hardware difficult to install?

No, CommLogix designed all of our hardware to quickly and effeciently connect into your existing network.

4. Does using CommLogix, open up any holes or security concerns in our existing firewall?

No. CommLogix will work directly with your IT Department to insure that security in not compromised in anyway.

5. How much work is involved in maintaining the CommLogix SchoolDude toolset?

Very little. Once your configuration process is complete, the system will work 24 hours a day to not only save man power and energy dollars, but also can monitor to monitor your BAS for possible problems or conditions requiring immediate attention and potential cost avoidance related to large facilities.

6. How much work is involved in setting up CommLogix to work with my BAS?

CommLogix utilizes your existing BAS equipment. There is a small amount of programming required within your BAS. Once your BAS is programmed, all configuration work is done through the CommLogix web site. This process involves associating your pre-existing SchoolDude areas to the corresponding BAS zones you have set up in your BAS.

7. Do the teachers and school staff have to understand the HVAC setup in order to use CommLogix?

No. The CommLogix tools can be added at anytime without any training for the teachers or school staff. The HVAC Engineer simply associates the SchoolDude areas to the BAS points or zones and CommLogix takes it from there.

8. What is the learning curve for bringing CommLogix online?

Usually a 60 minute web based conference with a member of the CommLogix Technical team is all that is needed for the HVAC Engineer or Technician.
